Greg Lane

Job overview

Type: Part-time (1 day/week)

Remuneration: ¥16,000/day, ¥64,000 to ¥80,000/month depending on number of days worked each month.

We need someone to add new events and keep existing events up to date on Tokyo Cheapo, Japan Cheapo, and Hong Kong Cheapo (most of the work is on Tokyo Cheapo).

Role

  • Regularly check and update upcoming event listings on tokyocheapo.com, japancheapo.com and hongkongcheapo.com
  • Research and write up new events and major events that we aren’t covering
  • Regularly communicate with senior editors and management

Skills & experience

  • Excellent research skills in English/Japanese (Chinese also useful)
  • Experience with paid writing jobs for the web or print
  • Good photography skills

Who would this position suit?

This position would really suit someone who enjoys events and likes to go out regularly and to explore the city. Typically, you’ll be the kind of person who your friends come to for advice about what is happening around Tokyo.

Although we said “Tokyo remote”, this just means you don’t have to work in an office. You still need to (already) live permanently in Greater Tokyo though.

Future opportunities

As the inbound tourism market in Japan recovers, this may evolve into an expanded or full time position.

Additionally, we receive plenty of press invites to event opening nights or press-only previews.
